The Bronc@ir project and its commitment to a virtual self-care model for managing bronchiectasis are presented in Lisbon.
From May 13 to 15, 2025, the 25th International Conference on Integrated Care (ICIC25) at the CCB Congress Center in Lisbon, Portugal. With more than 1.000 in-person participants and 150 sessions over three days, it was a global gathering of professionals committed to transforming healthcare systems and improving care. The Lovexair Foundation was honored to be part of this important movement.
The Belém Cultural Center was the chosen venue for this international conference, where creativity flowed among guest speakers and shared conversations. Professionals from the academic, medical, technical, and innovative fields participated, united by a common purpose: make the health systems function better and improve both patient experience and clinical outcomes.
With delegates from numerous countries, representation from the Portuguese Federation of Integrated Care as host, and new ties with Brazil, this movement is truly global and continues to grow.
Bronc@ir and integrated care
Lovexair was part of the meeting with the presentation of Bronc@ir, a study co-designed with Esther Barreiros' team at the Hospital del Mar in Barcelona. This project, developed within the HappyAir ecosystem, proposes a virtual self-care model for managing bronchiectasis. It connects the hospital and home environments through a shared pathway that offers clinical, educational, and social support.
Our respiratory physiotherapist and professional coach, Eva Maroto, has played a key role in guiding and empowering patients. Our sincere thanks to the Hospital del Mar team and the patients who participated in the project, helping us co-create digital solutions for better disease management and improved outcomes in chronic respiratory health.

The challenges of integrated care
Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland have made significant progress in integrated care, but challenges remain. “As moderator of the session “Building Accountability and Resilience in Integrated Systems,” I was inspired by the innovative presentations that are leading the transformation of integrated care, despite a lack of funding, fragmented data systems, and complex healthcare structures. comments Shane Fitch, CEO of the Lovexair Foundation.
“Patients and caregivers should know how much effort is behind this work and how integrated care models—based on multidisciplinary collaboration—can directly benefit them.”, Anade.
At Lovexair, we believe that civic organizations must actively participate in this transformation. When we demonstrate that it is possible to offer useful support, services, or digital tools, healthcare systems should open up to real integration, especially in the field of home care.
With the recent approval of the Resolution on Lung Health by the World Health Assembly, we now have a real opportunity to move towards truly patient-centered care for people with chronic respiratory diseases.
It is the people at the heart of health and care that truly matter, and that is what the Integrated Care movement continues to demonstrate, with strength and conviction..
