La NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) emerged just over 40 years ago. It was created Richard Bandler y John GrinderBandler, who was a computer science student, due to a series of circumstances, began to have a relationship with the world of psychology.
Over time he noticed that some therapists had special skills that set them apart from others. Because of this fortuitous contact with the world of psychology, Bandler became interested in it from a computer scientist's point of view, Taking simplified models of people's behavior, something similar to what he did to create computer programs.
For his part, Grinder helped to systematize knowledge of verbal and non-verbal language patterns, so that they could be reproduced. So, after a short time, Grinder himself began to lead a group where he also used the identified patterns, also obtaining spectacular results.
From these experiences, they decided to investigate further into “the differences that make the difference”, that is, the key factors that determined success. All this led, after a couple of years of research and testing in the encounter groups, to the publication of “The Structure of Magic – Volume 1”, followed some time later by volume No. 2.
These two books describe how:
- People form an internal representation of reality (we call a person's set of representations a "map").
- This “map” may contain aspects that are unhelpful or clearly dysfunctional for a person, and
- The person's response to certain questions (using the Meta-Language Model) leads to the reorganization of his or her "map" with the consequent therapeutic effect
Botton line: We are unconscious beings, therefore we are not aware of our beliefs, our abilities, etc. And since we are not aware, we need help from elsewhere. From therapists, psychologists, coaches y practitioners de NLP also.
And the NLP is a tool for analyzing human behavior. It allows us to analyse human behaviour so that we can understand how what we think and feel allows us to achieve our goals or not. And it helps us to change our way of thinking so that we can change the way we feel.
